Author Gladys James is a native Detroiter whose grandfather migrated to the big city from Bennettsville, South Carolina in 1926, at age 18. Her grandfather became a full-time factory worker and provided a sufficient living for 10 children and three grandchildren in their home on the boulevard. James credits her mother and the years spent living in her grandparents’ house with shaping and developing her path into successful womanhood. She is a proud product of the public school educational system and has committed her life to the education of children both inside and outside of the classroom. With a Doctorate in Education, a Master of Arts in Teaching, and a Bachelor in Written Communications, her journey reflects her passion for inspired creations in education. Additionally, her experiences have led her to share her stories through Boulevard Adventures.
